Nearly a quarter of a century ago and following a few years of post-university cross-Atlantic soul-searching, I transported the seeds of my adult life from New York to Athens. Drum-making became my profession and the KleoDrums workshop, my creative abode.
Since then, in my humble semi-subterranean space, I've developed a growing catalog of traditional and novel percussion instruments for - and often in collaboration with - musicians, academic institutions, researchers, fine artists, performers and spiritual practitioners.
KleoDrums have out-travelled me by far, having reached every continent save Antartica.
I handcraft a wide range of idiophones and membranophones, aka percussion instruments - with or without skins - used for making music, accompanying dancers, meditating, healing, invoking ecstatic states,
My materials are mostly locally sourced and include wood, goatskins, clay, bronze and nickel silver, synthetic and organic rope, natural oils and traditional varnish.
Most of my instruments are made to order, so I'm happy to accommodate your specifications when possible.
