So Irorama, tell us about yourselves and your concept…
Irorama, as a project, started in 2010 in Athens. The name is inspired by our first child, Iro. When she was about 6 months old, in my free time from raising her, I was inspired to develop my imagination and my creativity, and I started experimenting on the clean and durable material of glass.
Since then I have not let go of the brush from my hands, trying along with enamels to give color and life to various glass and porcelain utilitarian or decorative objects, jewelry, tiles, glass surfaces and (with the help of my husband) atmospheric light boxes.
What is the inspiration behind your work? Who are some people/ what are some projects that have inspired you?
I am inspired by everything that has curves, circles and color. In terms of people who inspire me, its got to be the Aborigines!
Whats your experience of the Meet Market?
Always happy… Makes me feel appreciated… Professionalism, organization, nice atmosphere and nice people!
Where do you realistically see yourself in 5 years? If you didn’t have to be realistic, where would you dream to see yourself in 5 years?
Realistically, I see Irorama moving to a workshop-showroom somewhere in Crete … I will share my creations with locals and tourists! A hand-painted bottle of raki will await them at the door!
I dream of a warm workshop-showroom somewhere in Crete … Only this time I would like to be my husband to be more involved creatively!
Whats the one tool in your workshop that you cant live without?
My very thin paint brush.
Whats the strangest job you have every had?
Consultant in molecular genetics center.
Describe the color yellow to somebody who’s blind.
Yellow reminds me of freedom and warmth… the light at the end of a dark tunnel.
