Description

Throughout the ancient world, the winged phallus emerged as a potent symbol of fertility, virility, and divine protection. In ancient Greece, for example, phallic imagery—sometimes enhanced with wings—featured in the context of Dionysian festivals and fertility rites, where it celebrated the regenerative power of nature. Similarly, in Rome, the concept evolved into the "fascinus," a charm often depicted as a winged phallus believed to ward off the evil eye and bring good fortune. Moving eastward, ancient Mesopotamian art also embraced winged phallic motifs in temple decorations and ritual objects, linking them with deities associated with prosperity and protection. In Egypt, symbols resembling a winged phallus could be found in the iconography of gods like Min, whose imagery underscored themes of sexual potency and rebirth. These diverse occurrences illustrate how a single symbol could traverse cultural boundaries, adapting its meaning to express both creative life force and protective magic.

To preserve their delicate glazes and shapes, always wash them by hand using warm water, mild soap, and a soft sponge. Avoid drastic temperature changes to prevent cracks. If the piece isn’t specifically labeled as microwave or dishwasher safe, it’s best to keep it out of those appliances. After washing, pat or air-dry thoroughly before storing.
